Welcome to a time honored Mt. Pleasant tradition -- the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant Scholastic Banquet. This banquet to honor the top ten per cent of the graduating class of MPAHS has been going on since 1973. Back in those days, there were only banquets to honor those who excelled on the football field, the baseball diamond, the basketball court and on the wrestling mat. For those who are wondering, soccer did not exist at Mt. Pleasant High School when this banquet began. But one Rotarian wondered why not honor those who excelled in the classroom academically too?

This Rotarian whose idea it was to honor the top ten percent of the senior class was Frank Robert Hauser. Bob, also known as FR, was a Mt. Pleasant business man.

Over the years, the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant has honored close to 1,000 students at the scholastic banquet. These students have gone on to become pharmacists, accountants, doctors, ministers, lawyers, guidance counselors and at least one professional football player. Almost all vocations and professions have been represented by those that have gone before and just like those students, we will honor these students here tonight, for their determination, their dedication and their intelligence.
